Operating Hours Reset Procedure for Zodiac TRi / TRi-XO Salt Chlorinators

From the How to Guides blog

Reading time: 1 minutes

The Zodiac TRi and TRi-XO as well as the Zodiac Clearwater Duo and MagnaPool Hydroxinator (non iQ models) have a built-in counter that tracks the operating hours of the unit and the cell. The chlorinator will give a warning message “CHECK CELL” when the cell has reached 6,000 hours and at 10,000 hours to prompt the user to check the condition of the cell. The cell has an approximate lifespan of 10,000 hours.

It's recommended to reset the cell hours when replacing the chlorinator cell / electrode.

  1. Hold down the SELECT button for approximately 10 seconds to access the hidden menu.

  2. You should see the below screen.

Scroll down to OPERATING HRS and press SELECT.
Note: In units manufactured after 2020 (depending on the PCB and firmware), there may be a third option to change the cell output.

  3. You will see a screen similar to the below.
CHLOR HRS is the total running time of the chlorinator (power supply) in hours and cannot be cleared / reset.
CELL HRS is the total running time of the cell / electrode in hours and can be cleared / reset. However, if the cell is not the original cell, the cell hours assumes that the counter was reset when the cell was replaced.

  4. To reset the cell hours, press SELECT to reset the CELL HRS.

  5. The CELL HRS should now show 0000. You can press the MENU button twice to return to the home screen.
